Events and Activities in Manchester
The Globe Café
If you are an international student in Manchester, you are warmly
invited to the Globe Café, which is a meeting point for international
students. For more information, email Sabine
Stockton or click here.
Free tea, coffee and snacks are served and there are games and cultural
activities to enjoy if you wish.
The Hospitality programme
This is an opportunity to visit a British home for a meal and
to spend an afternoon / evening there. The programme is run in conjunction
with local churches. Email
Sabine to find out how you can join the programme.
Trips
Sabine helps with some of the trips organised by the International
Society. These take place each weekend during term time, as well
as occasionally during the vacations. Travel is by coach to different
areas of the country e.g. North Wales, York, Chester, Stratford
upon Avon, the Lake District, etc. For more information, visit the
International
Society's website.
Visits to the countryside
Smaller trips are organised to attractive locations within an
hours drive of the Manchester area e.g. Formby, the Peak District,
North Wales, etc. Travel on these trips is usually by minibus. Such
trips give the chance to make friends and speak English while walking
through some of the English countryside. Contact Sabine
for details.
Vacation programmes
Sabine publicises events for internationals that are taking place
during the vacations. She prints a leaflet just before the end of
each term, highlighting the events being organised during the coming
vacation.
Small groups to find out about Christianity
If you are interested in finding out more about Jesus Christ and
the Bible, Sabine
is often involved in running such groups or will know of where such
groups are meeting.
If you are a Christian and would like to meet with other Christians,
Sabine will be able to help you find such a group. Go to the section
on Churches, CUs and Bible study.
