Churches, CUs and Bible Studies
Sabine can put you in touch with local churches in the Manchester
& Salford area. She also networks with the Christian Unions
(CUs) at the universities and colleges in the area, and is able
to help you make contact with the leaders. There are currently a
number of groups meeting to study the Bible together and to find
out about Christianity. Sabine runs small groups and knows of other
groups meeting in the area.

Christians believe or about the Bible?
We would be delighted to help you do that in a way that suits
your level of interest and the time you have available. For example:
Would you like a copy of the Bible in your own language?
Would you like to visit a local church?
Would you like to do an introductory course about the Bible or about
what Christians believe?
You can do this in a group with other international students,
or on your own with an experienced Christian. For any of these please

We would just like to offer a word of encouragement to those Christian
internationals who have been shocked on arriving in the UK by certain
aspects of British behaviour. You need to know that the majority
of people in the UK are not Christians.
Also you may have visited a church here and found it unfriendly
or very different from what you have been used to in your own country.
If this is the case, we are very sorry but please don’t give
up – there are welcoming churches here where the good news
about Jesus is preached. But the way genuine Christians behave when
they meet together varies from culture to culture. For example some
are very enthusiastic and outgoing, whilst others are more reserved.
Please be patient and persistent in trying to make friends with
British Christians. We need you to help us grow as followers of
Jesus.
