Events and Activities
The Globe Café
The Globe café is open every Monday night from 7.30-10pm
during term time. A meal will be served from 7.30pm and only costs
£2! During summer time we open from 8-10pm - no meal will
be served but free tea and coffee will be available. The café
provides a relaxed environment for international students to chat
and make new friends. As well as being a great place to escape from
the library, it also offers students the chance to practice their
English. We organise lots of different games and some special events
(such as weekends away and day trips) during the term. We also provide
an opportunity to investigate the Christian faith for those who
are interested. For further information, please email Philip
Ballard or click here
to see The Globe's website.
English Conversation Classes
There is an English language class held every Wednesday from 1.15-2.45pm.
There is also a Bible study from 3-4pm which you are also welcome
to join. They are free of charge and any students are welcome to
come along. For more info please email Sue at englishclasses@the-globe.org.
The International Ladies Group
A warm welcome to our International Ladies, with or without children,
to meet us for friendly chats, coffee and a fun programme on Wednesday
mornings. Come along to meet other ladies from around the world
living in the area and make new friends. This group is organised
by Christians from Jesmond Parish Church. Every Wednesday morning
10am-12pm, Eslington House, Eslington Terrace, Jesmond, NE2 4RF
(Near Jesmond Metro Station). Please contact Joanna. Phone: 0191
2145773. Email: joanna.schuder@yahoo.co.uk.
A Visit to a Local Home
Are you an international student studying in Newcastle? Would
you like to have the opportunity to visit a local home and get to
know local people?
This invitation comes from Christian people who are members of local
churches in the Newcastle area. We wish to offer a warm welcome
to you as you live here and to invite you into our homes for a meal
from time to time.
The hospitality programme is open to ALL international students
in the Newcastle area, whatever country you come from and whatever
your religious background.
If you would like to join this scheme, please fill in this form
(www.the-globe.org/visitalocalhome) and we'll be in touch with you
soon.
For more information about getting involved
with international student work in the city, contact Ramzi
