Northampton
Friendship International through Support and Hospitality
(FISH) is a network of Christians across the town offering
welcome, friendship and support to the many hundreds of international
students arriving each year at The University of Northampton.
There are a variety of activities we offer. For further information,
please visit our website
or see below:
Hospitality Scheme
We invite international students to visit a local family
and sample English food and conversation, and other aspects
of our culture. Many lasting friendships are made as a result
of these visits. Contact is made through a simple registration
process – students pick up a flyer from the multi-faith
chaplaincy or Student Services, and e-mail your contact details
to our hospitality organiser.
Social and cultural events
Each term we organise two or three social activities, often
with food provided, to give students a taste of our English
heritage or culture, and the opportunity to mix with members
of the local community. For example, last year students enjoyed
joining us for a Barn Dance, a Pancake party, barbecue and
local forest walk, and a town treasure trail. Look out for
information in Student Services. We also run a weekly table-tennis
club which has proved popular over many years
Exploring the Christian faith
We will try to answer any questions you might have about
Christian beliefs and practice; or you can find out more through
a study group attached to one of the local churches, where
the Bible is explained in a structured way.
If you would like to know more about the many different ways
you can be invovled, please contact Andrea
and Peter Duncan.
